Lil Wayne cancels concert, talks epilepsy scare
Lil Wayne epilepsy battle: Rapper reveals concert cancellation came after doctor's urging
In addition to sharing the "personal content," the rapper addressed his recent show cancellation after failing to appear at his concert in Bangor, Maine, on Tuesday, June 30. While he apologized and announced the show would be rescheduled to July 28, he did not give an explanation at the time.
On Sunday, he revealed that on the day of his concert, he had a "badass migraine," which could have triggered his longstanding battle with epilepsy."I have epilepsy and I have seizures. Thank God I haven't had a seizure in years. But seizures have triggers," he said. "It was recommended that I don't get on the plane because they didn't want an event to happen while in the air. So hopefully you can understand that."
He added that anyone who still wants a refund can request one. "I apologize to you too. I really, really, really do," he said.
Wayne has been hospitalized after experiencing seizures multiple times over the years, including incidents while in the air. In 2016, Carter had two seizures while flying from Wisconsin to California, TMZ reported at the time. He canceled a Las Vegas show in 2017 after a seizure left him unconscious in a Chicago hotel room earlier that day, according to Reuters.
