NEW NAME – NEW LOOK

NEW NAME – NEW LOOK

The Epilepsy Association of Central Florida is now THE Epilepsy Association!   Why the name change?  Our programs have grown far beyond just Central Florida reaching millions of people every month around the world in over 150 countries.  One challenge we had was that many of the programs and services we do had different looks.  It was identified that many people didn’t know that we bring all of them to you and to the world. Now, THE Epilepsy Association, EpilepsyU.com, and EpilepsyStore.com have a fresh new and similar look that utilizes our trademarked Purple “e” Epilepsy Awareness Ribbon in their logos and design.  Thanks to a wonderful, all-volunteer team, from The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Orlando Chapter who were participating in a program called “Changemakers” they took on this project to identify our challenges and take a fresh look at all we do.   This new look is thanks to them who volunteered countless hours and their talents to make this happen.  We hope you like it!         ...

Why Our Trademarked Purple “e” Ribbon

Why Our Trademarked Purple “e” Ribbon

A New Awareness Ribbon to Stand Out Above The Crowd 1 in 4 people will have a seizure during their lifetime, and 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy. Today, 3.5 million people in the United States have epilepsy, making it the 4th most common neurological condition. Yet, despite its high incidence in the U.S., epilepsy receives a small percentage of research funding, and little attention, compared to other medical disorders. One charity, the Epilepsy Association, is intent on bringing epilepsy out of the darkness by building widespread public awareness through its innovative new marketing efforts. With purple being the internationally recognized color for epilepsy awareness, there are a proliferation of charitable causes that have adopted it and the generic awareness ribbon. In order to differentiate epilepsy from other causes, THE Epilepsy Association has designed a proprietary new epilepsy-specific purple ribbon in the shape of a bold and contemporary “e” to help build epilepsy awareness. “Even with epilepsy being so common, it isn’t talked about as much as it should be due to the many myths and stigmas that continue to surround the disorder,” said Chuck Carmen, Executive Director of THE Epilepsy Association. “We want to change that by providing more information about what epilepsy is and is not, which in turn, will help increase awareness about the condition.” The new purple “e” ribbon was formally introduced to the public as part of the nonprofit organization’s recent launch of The EpilepsyStore.com, the first online retail marketplace where people can “Shop Purple for a Purpose™.” The “e” store, as many refer to it, features affordable, custom-designed items with the purple “e” ribbon, including fashionable jewelry, tumblers, a necktie, hats, a license plate frame, car magnets, and even a limited edition set of purple and white “e” Christmas ornaments. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these items benefit the programs of THE Epilepsy Association, so customers can purchase with confidence knowing they are helping others in need. “EpilepsyStore.com serves two important missions which include building epilepsy awareness and helping raise funds to put an end to seizures,” said Mr. Carmen. “Our goal is to differentiate epilepsy as a cause that is worthy of widespread public support, and to give it a recognizable brand identity that will gain the attention of millions with epilepsy, and even millions more who love and care for them, to share the new ‘e’ ribbon...

EpilepsyStore.com!

EpilepsyStore.com!

Nearly 3 million people in the United States live with epilepsy!   1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime.   To raise awareness and funds for epilepsy to provide assistance to those in need, THE Epilepsy Association has created EpilepsyStore.com as the first online retail marketplace to “Shop Purple for a Purpose™” and bring epilepsy out of the darkness.   THE Epilepsy Association created the EpilepsyStore.com with a brand that brings its proprietary purple “e” ribbon to life with the slogan, “Shop Purple for A Purpose.” We wanted to bring more awareness to epilepsy, make it stand out, and take advantage of the growing internet shopping market by creating a unique online store to generate a source of income to help sustain our nonprofit mission.   Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) July 08, 2015 Purple is the international recognized color for epilepsy awareness, but over 25 other charitable causes use it and the generic awareness ribbon. In order to differentiate epilepsy from other causes, a new epilepsy-specific purple ribbon in the shape of a bold and contemporary “e” has been designed to brand and launch The EpilepsyStore.com, the first online retail marketplace where people can “Shop Purple for a Purpose™”. The EpilepsyStore.com is a new social enterprise created by the Epilepsy Association, an Orlando, Florida-based nonprofit organization, as an entrepreneurial way to generate revenue to support and expand epilepsy awareness, help fund programs, and provide services to those in need. The EpilepsyStore.com provides the only online shopping experience of its kind that brings together epilepsy awareness items such as uniquely-designed jewelry and clothing, as well as epilepsy assistive devices and educational items. According to Chuck Carmen, Executive Director of the Epilepsy Association, “We wanted to bring more awareness to epilepsy, make it stand out, and take advantage of the growing internet shopping market by creating a unique online store to generate a source of income to help sustain our nonprofit mission.” Mr. Carmen continued, “With the popularity of social media today, more people affected by epilepsy are coming out of the shadows to break the stigma of epilepsy and join in the effort to build awareness, education and research for epilepsy.” The idea for The EpilepsyStore.com came from THE Epilepsy Association’s desire to leverage its successful online epilepsy support community, EpilepsyU.com, which reaches nearly 1,000,000 people worldwide every month with valuable news, information, education, and support. By launching...
